Obituary

Velma Fugate, 101, of Milton, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008 at her residence.  Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Brent Beckett officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.  She was born November 21, 1906 in Lincoln Co., WV a daughter of the late Rev. William A. and Anna Belle Bias Browning.  She was also preceded in death by three children, James W., Robert Lee, and Samuel “Todd” Fugate;  two sisters, Erma Ramsey and Nellie Gurney; two brothers, Arnold “Buck” and Vernon Browning.  She was a member of Union Baptist Church, active in the Milton Senior Citizens and the Democratic Women’s Club.  She is survived by her daughter, Marianna and Carl Callaway of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Mark (Patty Jo) Fugate, Lisa (Robbin) Neel, Scott (Pam) Fugate, Bobbi Sue Fugate, Todd David Fugate, Randa (Tom) DeJong, Matt Callaway, and Susanne Bailes; eight great grandchildren, R.J. Neel, Aaron Neel, Savannah Fugate, Emmet DeJong, Sam DeJong, McKinney DeJong, Erin Bailes, and Hannah Bailes.  A special thanks to her primary caregivers, Scott and Pam Fugate.  A deep appreciation to Hospice of Huntington, Lee Ann Beckett and Ginger Kuhn.  The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Huntington.  Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
