Milton passed away, Monday, June 1, 2009 in
St. Mary’s
Medical
Center.
Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2009 at
Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating.
Burial will follow in
White
Chapel
Memorial
Gardens, Barboursville.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion,
Post 139, Milton. He was born October 16, 1942 in
Ona,
WV a son of the late Fleetis
and Stella Rolfe Ashworth. He was also preceded in death
by his wife, Jearlene “Jerry” Ashworth; brothers, Sammy D. and Don “Diesel”
Ashworth. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of
Vietnam and a
member and past Commander of the American Legion, Post 139, Milton.
He was the former owner of Raymond and Jerry’s and a retired
supervisor with Shell and the former Goodyear. He loved
to hunt, fish, watch Nascar races, and enjoyed winning the race board.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce (Ernest “Jay”) Bevins of Louisa,
KY; special adopted daughter, April Billups of Ona; two step daughters,
Sandy (Ron) Weddington of Scott Depot and Cindy (Delmar, Jr.) Stanley of
Milton; sister-in-law, Mary Ashworth; five step grandchildren, Marian (Gary)
Smith, Reuben (Kathryn) Ellis, Darin Stanley, Monica Stanley, and Melanie
(Everett) Laverty; eleven step great grandchildren, Dru Stanley, Zachary
Billups, Shawn Billups, Blane Hughes, Cooper, Jayden, and Dehlia Ellis,
Tavern Stanley, Tabitha and Samantha Laverty, and Weston Smith; nieces and
nephews, Cindy (Randy) Bowen, James (Cheryl) Bevins, Charles and Timmy
Ashworth, Kelly Linville, Donna Clagg, Kathy Martin, and Billy Fisher; a
host of special friends too numerous to name. Visitation
will be from 6 to 9 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home,
Milton.
