Obituary

Chester Lee Smith, Sr., 82, of Glenwood, went to be with the Heavenly Father, Sunday morning at home, after a long illness.  Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Glenwood.  He was born January 20, 1927 in Cabell Co., WV, a son of the late Wellington and Zelphia Smith.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Smith.  He was a retired laborer with T.A. Chapman.  He is survived by his wife, Mildred McComas Smith; sons, Chester L., Jr. and Erma Smith of Glenwood, Barry and Paulene Smith of Milton, Larry Smith of Glenwood, and William “Bill” and Rutha Smith of Glenwood; daughter, Evelyn and Herman Beckett of Salt Rock; sisters, Rosie Kiff of Barboursville and Alberta Porter of Huntington; step children, Larry and Anita McComas of Ona, Mary Ann and Darrell Young of Hurricane, Charlene Clagg of Milton, Brenda Lamm of Leon, Bobby McComas of Texas, and Danny McComas of Texas; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; special nephew, Terry Smith.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
