Donald R. Ray, a devoted Christian went peacefully to the Lord on November 27, 2011. Don was born November 9, 1934 in Salt Rock WV, a son of the late S. Walter and Letha Ray. He is survived by one brother, Wendall Ray and one sister, Fay Bradey. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Donna. He left behind one son, Terry Ray and one daughter, Carole Means. He was “Poppa Don” to 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Don achieved a teaching degree from Marshal University, WV and his master’s was achieved through Miami University in Ohio. He earned his equivalent doctors through the University of Michigan. He touched many young lives through his life of teaching in Michigan, California, San Diego and Cincinnati, OH. He finished his career as a vocational counselor in Taylor Centre, Michigan. He retired in Venice, Florida where he was a valued member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Englewood, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Yawkey, WV. Memorial Donations may be made to the Venice Tidewell Hospice House of Venice, Florida.
