Obituary
Ishmel Hodge, 87, of Milton, WV went home to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, August 14, 2014. II Corinthians 5:8 provides Christians assurance
that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Ishmel was
born April 25, 1927 in Branchland, WV, a son of the late Henry Hodge and
Myrtle Swanson Hodge. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Della
Ann Hodge. Ishmel is survived by his loving wife, Lula Grass Hodge, son Gary
Hodge, and daughter Jill Sansom both of Milton; three grandchildren, Amanda
Hodge Perry and husband Ryan of Milton, Michael Sansom of Barboursville, and
Briana Sansom of Milton; and two great grandchildren, Jace and Isaiah Perry
of Milton. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Hodge of
Hamlin, Donald Hodge of Huntington, Billy Hodge of Branchland, and four
sisters, Normal Roy of Huntington, Orphy Frye of Hamlin, Mabel Cummings
Hamlin, and an infant sister. Ishmel was the proud owner of an Esso gas
station for 10 years in Hamlin, WV where he was a member of Hamlin Baptist
Church. He relocated to Milton, WV in 1961 and was co-owner of the Gulf and
Chevron station for 30 years with close friend Burke (Red) Villers. Ishmel
loved his church family at Antioch Baptist church in Ona, WV where he was a
member for 45 years. He served as a trustee at Antioch for over 30 years as
well as an associate of Gideons International. The Hodge family would like
to express their sincere gratitude to Cabell Huntington Home Health Services
and Hospice of Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday,
August 18, 2014 at Heck Funeral Home in Milton, WV. Burial will follow in
Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
