Obituary
Lucy Andrick Sullivan
(September 14, 1932 ~ January 16,
2017)
Lucy Andrick Sullivan,
84, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home January 16, 2017. Her husband
of 63 years, Harold Wayne Sullivan, survives her. They had three children,
Nancy Hite Holliday (“Doc” Holliday), Columbia, MO, Sandra Sowards (Jeff
Sowards), Gainesville, FL, and Jennifer Sullivan Spoor (Stephen Spoor),
Milton, WV. She had six grandchildren: Jenna Meadows, Summer Shepard, Jacob
and Ian Sowards, and Lilly and Jessica Spoor, as well as nine
great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, James Leo Andrick, New
Cumberland, PA. Her parents, Freddie Guy and Ruth Somerville Andrick,
predeceased her, as well as one brother, Carl Preston Andrick. Lucy, or
“Miss Lucy” as her students fondly called her in later years, taught home
economics 35 years in Cabell and Mason Counties. In 1989 she was named the
WV Home Economics Teacher of the Year. She retired from Cabell Midland High
School where she had taught family and consumer sciences. After her
retirement she wrote a cookbook, Miss Lucy’s de-lite-ful Cookbook, based on
her low-fat cooking seminars. Many will also remember her years teaching
sewing in adult education classes. The congregation of Milton United
Methodist Church will cherish her loving spirit and years of service. She
touched thousands of lives, because she lived to teach. Visitation will be
from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, at Heck Funeral Home,
Milton. Funeral will be Friday, January 20, at 1p.m., at Milton United
Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lynn Cartwright. Burial will follow
in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.
