ROY ROBERT COOPER
(March 17, 1917 - June 14, 2009)



ROY ROBERT COOPER, 92, of Huntington, passed away Sunday June 14, 2009 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born March 17, 1917, Lincoln County, WV a son of the late Robert Johnson and Stella Lovejoy Cooper. In addition to his parents he was preceded by brothers and sisters Ralph Cooper, Albert (Junior) Cooper, Myrell Cooper, Mayme Vannatter and Blanche Marcum. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Martha Linville Cooper, five sons and daughter-in-laws, Dennis and Rosie Cooper, Merrill and Dorothy Cooper, Leo and Judy Cooper, Buddy and Jamie Cooper of Huntington, Denver and Arbutus Cooper, Proctorville, OH, and daughters Betty and David Poston, Eloise & Jim Parsley, Agnes and Joseph Chevront of Huntington, Pauline and Sherrill Porter of West Hamlin, Deborah and Robert Mounts of Texas, Margaretta and Ron Harbour, of Chesapeake, OH; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In his early years Mr. Cooper worked in the lumber and coal industries of Lincoln, Boone, and Logan Counties. He later studied electronics and was a graduate as an electronics technician from the Massey Technical Institute of Jacksonville, FL. He then retired as the electrical and general maintenance engineer of the Uptowner Inns of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at the HENSON MORTUARY BARBOURSVILLE, with Rev. Donald "Smokey" Hager and Dr. Bill Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, at the HENSON MORTUARY BARBOURSVILLE.
