BERNARD "BERNIE" HOEPF
(December 31, 1919 - November 11,
2011)
Bernard “Bernie” Sylvester Hoepf,
91 of Barboursville, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 11,
2011 at Chateau Grove Assisted Living, Barboursville, WV. He was born
December 31, 1919 in Wyandot, County, OH. the son of the late Charles
Christian and Mary Kummerer Hoepf. He was also preceded in death by his
wife, Julia Ann “Grove” Hoepf in 1972; five brothers and four sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be conducted on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of
Fatima Catholic Church, Huntington, WV with Rev. Father. James Sobus
officiating. Entombment will follow in Ridgelawn Abbey of Devotion Mausoleum
, Huntington. He is survived by two daughters and
son-in-laws, Mary Bernadette and Dan Rice of Milton, WV and Bonnie Ann and
Michael Miller of Goshen, KY; grandchildren, Kevin Daniel and Angela Rice of
Milton, WV, Jon Travis and Lana Rice of Prospect, KY and Todd Eric Rice and
Michael of Hollywood FL; Great-grandchildren, Nathan Rice of Milton, WV,
Carly and Mason Rice of Prospect, KY; one great-great grandson, Carson Rice
of Clover, SC; one brother, Raymond Hoepf and Mickey of Bowling Green, OH;
sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Joan Grove of Barboursville, WV, Rose Hoepf of
Clinton Township, MI. and Janet Hoepf of Tiffin, OH and many loving nieces
and nephews. He was a devoted member and supporter of Our Lady of Fatima
Catholic Church since its founding. He was also a member of the Fatima Men’s
Club, Knights of Columbus and Elks Club of Huntington. He was president and
co-owner of Nelson Lumber Company, Barboursville, WV where he greeted his
friends and customer for over 40 years. During his retirement he enjoyed
golf with his many friends and Riviera Golf Club, being with his family and
his longtime dear friend and companion Bertha Buckner and her family.
The family will receive
friends on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 4-6 PM at Henson Mortuary,
Barboursville, WV. Those serving as Pallbearers will be,
Kevin, Travis, Todd, Nathan and Mason Rice, Mike Jones and Mike Thompson and
a junior pallbearer, Carson Rice. Bernard and his family are especially
appreciative for the loving and professional care given to him by the staff
at Chateau Grove, Hospice of Huntington and a very special caregiver and
niece, Phyllis Thompson. The family requests that memorial donations be made
to Hospice of Huntington 1101 6th Ave. Huntington, WV, 25701.
