JOE N. MARTIN
(October 29, 1925 - March 30, 2013)

Joe Nolan Martin, 87 of Huntington, WV, passed away, Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born October 29, 1925 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Howard Bruce and Ruie Gay Backus. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Ruth Martin in February of 2013; one brother, Donald Bruce Martin; one sister, Verna Mae Stevens and one grandson, Joseph David Martin. Joe was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 23 years of service, a graduate of Huntington East High School, a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a Charter Member of Grace Gospel Church, Huntington.  He is survived by four sons, Tim Martin (Norrine) of Greenville, SC, David Martin, Tom Martin and wife Becky and Greg Martin all of Huntington, WV. Joe is also survived by his grandchildren, Andy Martin of SC, Ruth Ann Catoe of NC, Rebecca Griffith, Debra Rogers and Tommy Kline all of SC, Beth Martin and Bradley and Kayla Martin all of Huntington, WV; twelve great-grandchildren and a special niece, Judie Holderby of Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Grace Gospel Church, Huntington, WV with Pastors, Jerry Matt and Keith Wiebe officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV, with military grave side rites conducted by American Legion Post 139 Milton, WV. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Henson & Kitchen Family Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV.
