Katherine Alice Woody
(July 15, 1925 -- August 20, 2016)

Katherine Alice Woody, 91, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of August 20, 2016, after a long struggle with dementia. She was living in Tallahassee, FL under the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law with the support of Big Ben Hospice and Visiting Angels. Katherine was born in New York City, NY on July 15, 1925. She was the second child to parents Andrew and Gertrude (Bennett) Ing. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York and relocated to Huntington, West Virginia in 1946 upon marrying the love of her life, Woodrow Wilson Woody, on November 29, 1946. Katherine is remembered as a woman with a kind and gentle nature who was easy to talk to and easy to love. You always felt welcome in her home. She was an avid reader, cat lover, enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family and friends. Katherine was a beloved mother who found her greatest happiness in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Equally important to her was her Christian faith. Katherine was a long-time member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Barboursville, WV and attended Thomasville Baptist Church while living in Tallahassee, FL the past four years. Some of Katherine’s closest relationships were formed in her church family, and she leaves behind many who will remember her for her unconditional love and kindness. Katherine’s family and friends grieve her passing, yet take joy in knowing she has entered her eternal home in glory where she is reunited with her husband and the struggles she faced with dementia are no more. Katherine is survived by: son, Warren Woody, Huntington, WV; daughters, Bonnie Romes, Dublin, Ohio; and Kathy Ferris (Bruce), Tallahassee, FL; step-son Larry Woody (Jackie), Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Tammy Choquet, Westmoreland, TN; Jeremy Ferris (Nicole), Jupiter, FL; Courtney Ferris and Brandon Ferris, Tallahassee, FL; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Clayton and Collin Choquet, Westmoreland, TN, special extended family member Eloise (Sally) Holley and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Gertrude Ing, stepmother Tilly Ing, sister, Agnes Groeger and her beloved husband Woodrow W. Woody. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary; 6357 E. Pea Ridge Rd., Huntington W.Va. Entombment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers, especially Big Bend Hospice and Visiting Angels for their kind services and gracious attention to Katherine.
