John Dolen, 91, of Huntington, widower of Lillian Dolen, passed away Sunday March 20, 2016 at VA Medical Center, Huntington. He was born June 25, 1924, in Huntington son of the late Leonard Basil and Mary E. Nida Dolen. He was self employed building contractor, a lifetime member of BPOE Elks #13 Huntington, Past member of American Business Men's Club, VFW, and Past member of Builders Association, a Veteran of U.S. Army serving in WWII. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 25, 2016 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, 1:00 P.M. with Rev Larry Sanders, officiating, Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Dolen was preceded by four sisters Ida Mae Jeffers, Sarah Terry, Mary Crabtree, Hazel Hutchinson, and four brothers Harold, Burt, Leonard, Pete Dolen. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands Donna & J.T. Mayo, Betty & Lou Burger of Huntington, two sisters Lois Meade, Ethel Burth, three brothers and their wives Sammy & Mary Dolen, Bill & Carolyn Dolen, David & Pam Dolen, three grandchildren Patti and Harvey Messenger, John Burger, Justin & Kara Mayo, six great grandchildren Scott Hamlin, Elizabeth & Emily Burger, Mikayla, Brock, Jax Mayo, one great great grandchild Porter Lee Hamlin, and three special ladies. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, from 6 to 8:00 P.M.. Military honors will be provided by Milton America Legion Post #139.
