Mary Jane Miller, 87, of Huntington, W. Va., passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1930 in Hamlin, W. Va., the daughter of the late Arlie “Boots” and Edna Holly Carter. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Homer, and her brother Robert. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Ferris, of Jacksonville, Fl; three children, Carol MacCourtney (Kane), Wayne Miller (Johnna) and David Miller (Pam); four grandchildren, Kelsey, Christian, Lauren and Brian. Mary was a secretary at Island Creek Coal Company and retired from the Cabell County Board of Education. Mary participated in the Red Hat Society, Eastern Star, and proudly supported her husband Homer’s post naval celebrations, attending many reunions and gatherings. Mary was a devoted member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church. She served on many committees and was always willing to support church projects and missions. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017. Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Garden, Barboursville, W. Va. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.
