Bernice Mae Simmons-Spaur, 97 of Huntington, W.Va. passed away, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Wyngate at Rivers Edge Assisted Living, Proctorville, OH. She was the widow of G. Harold Spaur. She was born June 1, 1920 in Huntington, W.Va. the daughter of the late Lewis and Era Hale Simmons. She was a 1938 graduate of Huntington High School and retired from The Bazaar in Huntington, W.Va; a member of the Owens Illinois Axillary; and member of Central United Methodist Church in Huntington, W.Va. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Richard Simmons and Wendell Simmons. She is survived by her sister Lucinda Baker of Proctorville, OH; Nieces, Kathy Haynie, Tammy Thomas, and Donna McCoy; Nephews, Richard Simmons, Dale Simmons, Gary Simmons, and Mark Baker. She was also loving Granny to her Great Niece and Nephew Whitney Fulton and Cory Morford. She will be missed by a host of family and friends. Funeral services will take place at 2 PM on Sunday, January 21 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. near Barboursville with Rev. Michael Rexroad officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park Huntington, W.Va.
