James Mitchell “Jim” Short, 56 of Huntington, WV, passed away, Friday, June 22, 2018. He was born October 29, 1961 in Huntington, WV, the son of Jim Short of Huntington, WV and Susan Edwards (Frank) Murphy of Huntington, WV. He was preceded in death by his “Grannie Annie”, Ann Bartram. He was a retired Steel Worker from Special Metals, member of the Local Steelworkers Union #40, a member of Christ Temple Church where he served as an usher and member of the video capturing team. He is survived by his loving wife and as he affectionately called her his "Hot Chic”, Rhonda Short; daughters, Shelly Short of Grayson, KY, Rachel Perry of SC, Jennifer Short of CA. and Lakyn Short of Huntington, WV; sister, Beth (Jerry) Osborne of South Point, OH. and one brother, Scott (Julie) Short of Gallipolis, OH; five grandchildren, Jayden, Arrayah, Bryan, Cameron and a special granddaughter, Kaylee and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Christ Temple Church, Huntington, WV, with Pastor Chuck Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, East Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, WV. Jim’s wishes were that memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers for his daughter, Lakyn Short College Fund. Envelopes will be made available at the services.
