William "Bill' Alonzo Welch, 95 of Huntington, WV passed away, Friday, August 14, 2020 in the Abbyshire Place, Gallipolis, OH. He was born July 14, 1925. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Annabelle Patrick Welch and one daughter, Billie Cooper. He was a retired Assistant Superintendent of Huntington Sewage Treatment Plant, a U.S Navy WWII Veteran and member of Open Door Baptist Church in Huntington where he served as a Deacon and worked in church maintenance. Bill is survived by his daughter, Kay Welch Barrett of Huntington; four grandchildren, Cindy Simpkins of Huntington, Missy and Jim Nicely of Circleville, OH, Alonzo “Jon” and Chrissy Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Buck Smith of Myrtle Beach; nine great-grandchildren, J.R. and Ashley Nicely, Darian (Jake) Browning, Autumn Simpkins, Mason Simpkins, Thurman Alonzo Smith, Madison Smith, Kerrigan Smith and Dalton Smith; two great-great grandchildren, Adlee and Emberlee Browning as well as a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, 6357 East Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, WV. near Barboursville with Pastor Dustin Clark officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.
