Daryl Elwood Childers

Daryl Elwood Childers


Daryl Elwood Childers, 95 of Barboursville, WV went to be with his Lord, Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a retired Huntington Fire Fighter serving from 1955 to 1976 wearing badge #26. He was also a member of Reclaim Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his companion of 42 years, Betty Cannon and one sister, Doris Winters and one brother, Roy Childers. After retirement, he enjoyed farming and working with cattle. He was a member of a bowling league, enjoyed fishing, going out on his pontoon boat and loved his grandchildren and loved to eat. He was born March 12, 1926 in Cabell County, WV the son of the late, Roy and Gertrude Ellen Coyner Childers. He is survived by his children, Barbara and (Tom) Sanders of Barboursville, WV, Phillip (Karen) Childers of Salisbury, NC, Paula and the late Donald Adams of Barboursville, WV and Rick (Marsha) Childers of Huntington, WV; brother, Gary Childers of Huntington, WV; twelve grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services with Fireman's Honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, 6357 E. Pea Ridge Rd. Huntington, WV with Pastor Corey Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until services time on Friday at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. The family would like to say a special thanks to the Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their love and care for Elwood for the past 10 months.
