Mrs. Mabelle Chambers Slicer
February 20, 1923 - September 22, 2010


Mabelle Chambers Slicer, 87, of Huntington, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in Huntington Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary by Rev. Jack Lipphardt with visitation from noon until service time. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Mabelle was born February 20, 1923 in St. Louis, MO., daughter of the late James and Edna Hardman Chambers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Slicer, Jr., a sister, Alice Chambers Welch, a brother, James A. Chambers Jr. and brothers-in-law, E.J. Hensley and Hansford E. Welch. Mrs. Slicer was a member of the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church and the E. T. Jones Sunday School Class. She attended Marshall University and was a member of the Pi Sigma Kappa Sorority. Additionally, she was a life member of the Huntington Women’s Club and various Bridge Clubs in Huntington. Survivors include three children, James W. Slicer of Washington, D.C., Robert M. Slicer of Huntington, WV, and Carol L. Julian and husband, Frank of Columbia, MO., two grandchildren, Meredith Brooke Julian of Columbia, MO, Melanie Blair Julian of Philadelphia, PA.. a sister, Helen Elizabeth Chambers Hensley of Huntington, and a nephew H. Edwin Welch of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. The following will serve as pallbearers, Alan Simmons, Leon Oxley, Frank Hanshaw, Andy McGinnis, Ben McGinnis and Frank DiGidio.
