Eloise McGinnis
(June 11, 1914 - January 20, 2011)


Eloise McGinnis of Huntington, died at home Thursday the 20th Day of January, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 2 P.M. by Dr. Paul Russell. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service. She was the daughter of the late Ira James and Mabel Chapman McGinnis. She was a graduate of Marshall University and taught for several years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where she served as a lieutenant. She was Personnel Director at Anderson-Newcomb and Stone and Thomas Companies for twenty-nine years prior to her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 80 years, was past president of the Pilot Club of Huntington, was a member of P.E.O. Chapter I Sisterhood and the Woman’s Club of Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira James McGinnis, Jr. and Lyle Beuhring McGinnis, M.D. She is survived by a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) McGinnis; three nieces, Imogene Murray, Celeste Fraley and Carolyn McGinnis; one nephew, Lyle B. McGinnis, Jr. and seven great nieces and nephews, Hershel Murray, Marian Folk, Rev. Dr. Kathleen Murray, James Fraley, Ami Mandt, Michael Fraley and Lyle B. McGinnis III. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church.
