Dr. Virgil Lewis Chambers
(March 12, 1933 - November 20, 2011)



Dr. Virgil Lewis Chambers II, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Huntington. Virgil was born March 12, 1933 in Huntington, the son of the late Dr. Virgil Chambers and Nina McLaughlin Chambers. Virgil is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn N. Chambers; his daughter, Stacey Ann Chambers (Steve Theriault) of Alexandria, Va. son, John M. Chambers (Terri Chambers) of Huntington; two sisters, his twin sister, Ann C. Wade of Huntington and Betty Jo Chambers of St. Louis, MO. He was blessed with four grandchildren; Scott McCarthy of Boston, MA., John McCarthy of Colorado, Joshua Chambers and Kayla Chambers both of Huntington; step-grandchild, Stacy Moore of Richmond, Va. and Nieces and Nephews Jenny, Kathy, Will, Cindy and Jeff. Virgil graduated from Marshall University and the University of Maryland Dental School in 1958. He served in the United States Army Dental Corps from April 1959-1961 and was a major in the US Army Reserves. He was a member of the Huntington Dental Society, WV Dental Society, American Dental Association, American Prothodontics Society, Sons of the American Revolution and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. In 42 years of his practice, he served his patients with honesty, compassion and integrity. He was innately good to others and extremely devoted to his family. Indeed, he was a man of faith and one of God's finest creations. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Rev. Dr. John Minihan and Rev. Skip Seibel. Interment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Huntington.
