Mrs. Lila Ruby Rife
(February 27, 1915 - August 28, 2014)



Lila Ruby Wild Rife, 99, died peacefully on August 28, 2014 at her home at the Woodlands Retirement Community. She was surrounded by her children. She was born February 27, 1915 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Henry Oliver and Mabel Riggs Dunfee. She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry O. Dunfee Jr., her first husband, Robert Marshall Wild to whom she was married 54 years and her second husband, Oscar Jennings Rife to whom she was married 5 years. She is survived by her 4 children and their spouses, Marjorie and Roy Selvidge of Oxford, Mississippi, Robert and Pamela Wild of State College, Pennsylvania, Martha and Michael King of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Rebecca and Brad Miller of Sequim, Washington; twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Roy (Sarah) Selvidge, Marshall Selvidge, Andrew Wild, Kristyn (Matt) Brown, David King, John Michael (Emily) King, Hannah King, Mark King, Deahna King, Ira Miller, Claire Miller, Shiva Miller and 7 great granddaughters. Lila Ruby was a graduate of Huntington High School and Marshall College. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Buford chapter of the DAR and an 18 year resident of The Woodlands Retirement Community. She was a homemaker who graciously opened her home to friends and her children’s friends. She had a passionate interest in and a remarkable knowledge of the families, homes and the history of Huntington. With her passing goes a rich archival resource of this city that she dearly loved. The Wild family would like to express their profound gratitude for the loving and supportive friends and staff at The Woodlands. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Skip Seibel officiating. A reception for friends and family will follow in the Friendship Hall. Lila will be interned at the Woodmere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Lila requested that donations be made to the Cabway Lingo Shoe Fund, in care of First Presbyterian Church, 1015 5th Ave, Huntington, WV 25701 or to the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church Living Stones Campaign in honor of her father, Henry O. Dunfee, 1135 5th Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701.
