Justine Bowen

Justine Bowen, 91, of Huntington, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, she was born Justine Keeble Scott July 5th 1922 in Huntington, WV. Justine loved being in the workplace, starting as a secretary to Mike Lewis, mgr. Veteran's Field House, then with Lumberman's Mutual Insurance Company. Later she owned her own agency insuring many people and businesses in the Tri-State region, then a real estate agency selling houses and businesses all over Huntington. She never met a stranger and enjoyed gatherings where she could talk and party. Her favorite business was doing home appraisals. Tales about her appraisal adventures were a treat to hear. Her civic mindedness included a run for city council and serving on the building inspection board. She was an active member and officer in many organizations including Beverly Hill United Methodist Church, Huntington Women's Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Democratic Women, Huntington Realtors, and Independent Insurance Agents. Known as the "Roadrunner, Justine was a world traveler, having visited Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Mexico, Portugal, and Japan. She is survived by her children: James/Jay (Mary), Justine/Jo Beth Koch, Joseph Scott (Cheryl), and Julia Anne Bowen; grandchildren Jennifer Bowen, John Koch II, Jason (Anne) Koch, Jeffrey (Stacy) Bowen, Jill Bowen, and 4 great-grandchildren. Justine will be greatly missed by her many dear friends. She is preceded in death by husband James Jim, a sister Sarah Polly, 2 infant sisters and her parents James and Bertha Rappold Scott. Funeral service will be held at 1:30p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by the Rev. Bill Haynes, Interment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Visitation will be from Noon until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
