Sharon Slack Starkey

Sharon Slack Starkey, 76, of Huntington died on Thursday, 9 January 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, 18 January, at 2 pm, at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. There will be a visitation starting at noon prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Starkey was born May 18, 1937 in Ashland, KY, daughter of the late Charles F. and Dorothy Slack. She attended Huntington schools, graduating from HHS in 1955 and Marshall University in 1990. She was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, and a member of The Huntington Woman's Club. She is survived by her three sons: Walter W. Starkey IV of Raleigh, NC; US Army Colonel (retired) Rick Starkey of Clearwater, FL; and Kevin Starkey and his wife, Lisa, of Bullhead, AZ; four grandchildren: Rich and Lori Beth Starkey of Clearwater, FL; and Sarah and Morgan Starkey of Raleigh, NC. Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Slack. His surviving spouse, Rosio Slack of Puquoson, VA; a niece and nephew: Dina Weiss of Poquoson, VA and Charlie Slack of Portsmouth, VA.
