ObituaryAnita Kay (Adkins) Peters
Anita Kay Peters, 59 of Huntington, wife of David Peters, died Friday, May 29, 2015. A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, WV. Anita was born March 17, 1956 in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late Wilson and Dolly Perry Adkins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mildred and Lisa and by a niece, Tammy Lester. She was a 1974 graduate of Gilbert High School. Anita graduated with a Masters in Education from Marshall University in 1979 and was employed as an elementary school teacher with the Wayne County School System for 33 years. She also taught at both Fort Gay Elementary and Kenova Elementary. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, David Peters of Huntington; a son, Jason Peters of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 sisters, June Wistrand of Boca Raton, FL, Joann Steele of South Charleston, WV and Betty Williams of Beaver, WV; 2 brothers, Johnny Adkins of Pounding Mill, VA, Jimmy Adkins of Leesburg, GA. She loved working in her garden, traveling and found great joy in spending time with her family. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2nd at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary.
