JOHN ASPINALL HUNT, 85, passed away on July 15, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Ann. He is survived by his brother Llewelyn Hunt, his children David, Peter and Debbie, his eight grandchildren, Lindsay, Madeline and Townes (David and Melissa Hunt), Greg, Emily and Olivia (Peter and Meg Hunt) and Oliver and Owen (Debbie Hunt-Petty) and his very dear friend Wanda Edwards. He was a man of character and unquestionable integrity and had the greatest work ethic. Born on September 13, 1930 in a small rural town in South Africa, he entered medical school at 16 and found his calling. After completing his education in S.A. and the U.K. he became a trauma surgeon at Baragwanath Hospital serving the disadvantaged. He moved to the U.S. in mid-career to teach at Marshall Medical School and subsequently practiced as a general surgeon until his retirement. He adored medicine, teaching and intellectual challenges and never stopped trying to find solutions for his patients. He had an insatiable curiosity and quest for knowledge. He was fortunate to have been surrounded by many wonderful people and as a man of faith he loved Trinity Episcopal Church and attended regularly. His quiet, patient, committed and dedicated demeanor serve as a wonderful guide and legacy for his family who miss him dearly. Memorial service is to be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Huntington, W.Va., on August 6th at 2 p.m. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
