Robert Henry Belcher
(August 24, 1925 - March 19, 2017)

Robert “Bob” Henry Belcher, 91, of Huntington was reunited with Betty Jane Ashley Belcher, his wife of 63 years and love of his life, on March 19, 2017. Bob was born August 24, 1925 to the late Ercell (Byrd) and Carl Belcher. He is also preceded in death by three sisters and their husbands; Vaughnie Hall (Perry), Theresa Tyler (Jack) and Thalia Myles (Keneth). Bob was a proud Marine, serving during WWII in many conflicts in the South Pacific. Bob was best known as a contractor in our area building and repairing homes. The families he served became more than customers, they became friends. Bob is survived by his daughter Carol Jean Casto of Proctorville, OH; a very special friend, Charles Thomas Palmer of Proctorville; two grandsons, Timothy Scott Casto of Cincinnati, OH and Gregory Allen Casto of London, England; two great-grandchildren Robert Wallace Casto and Madison Grace Casto of Cincinnati, OH and two sisters-in-law and their late husbands, Glenna Ashley Christie (Jack) of Florida and Lois Ashley Onks (Charlie) of Virginia Beach, VA. Bob was excellently and lovingly cared for in his home by a very special caregiver Carla Johnson and his loyal companion Jasper the cat. A Military Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park, Princeton, WV. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Hospice of Huntington.
