Obituary
Harriet Katherine Hanrahan
Kathy Hanrahan, 61, passed away September 30th, 2017 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. S. “Steve” Hanrahan and Harriet D. Harman. Surviving are her sisters Veronica Hanrahan Heide (Parry of Madison, WI), Elizabeth Hanrahan and Emma Suratt Walters of Huntington, brother Roger King of Huntington, nephew David Heide (Tiffany) of Madison, WI, and niece Anne Heide (Mike Wendt) of Milwaukee, WI and cousin Terry E. Ward of Asheville. Kathy was valedictorian at Huntington High School, class of 1974. She graduated cum laude from Marshall University B.S. Chemistry, ACS. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She was a member of the American Chemical Society and was employed by Marathon Petroleum. Kathy was a member of Enslow Park Presbyterian church. Kathy loved animals and loved to ski, read, dance, and ride horses. She loved card games with friends and was an expert in navigating the mazes of the Legend of Zelda on Nintendo. She enjoyed family gatherings in various places, but especially loved walking along the beaches of the Florida Gulf shores. The family wishes to thank Dave and Sheila Edwards as well as many family friends for their love and support throughout the years. The family thanks the staff of Heritage Center including Deanna, Molly, Marcie, Audrey, Tabby, and Peggy for their compassionate care.
