Mary Hawes
(November 29, 1933 - August 29, 2018

Mary Catherine “Squawky” Hawes, 84, of Huntington, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 29, 2018 at her home.  Squawky was born November 29, 1933 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Gordon Lee Hawes and Katherine McKinney Hawes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, James Gordon Hawes and Julian Lee Hawes.  She was retired from the VA Hospital with 29 years of service. She was a 29-year member of the Huntington Rotary Club International  where she held the position of secretary and was awarded the distinction of the Paul Harris Fellow.  Mary Catherine is survived by her life partner, Donald Brooks and three nieces, Susan Hawes Row, Laura Ruth Hawes, Marney Hawes and one nephew, Joseph Douglas Hawes.  A graveside funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 by Monsignor Lawrence Luciana at Spring Hill Cemetery.
