Doors to the Past

Milton

This 1923-24 scene is the depot at "New Milton," built to replace the Milton Depot when the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway tracks were moved across the Mud River in 1908-09. The view looks eastward toward Hurricane and St. Albans. At the right of the photo is the switch tender's house adjacent to the railroad. The track curving away to the left is the spur which continued to serve downtown Milton via a bridge until the 1950's. A portion of the spur continues to serve Blenko Glass Co. in 1999.
