Tessie Joleane Gardner
(September 3, 1928 - March 22, 2012)



Joleane Gardner, 83 of Huntington, WV passed away Thursday, March 23, 2012 at Madison Park in Huntington, WV. Funeral services are to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Christ Temple Church’s Life and Health Center by Pastor Chuck Lawrence. Entombment will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio. Mrs. Gardner was born September 3, 1928 in Portsmouth, Ohio a daughter of the late Louis and Tessa Elizabeth Frazier Mauck. She was a graduate of Huntington High School; the Tulsa Bible Institute; and McNeese University in Lake Charles, Louisianna. She was also preceded in death by her husband Rev. Roland J. Gardner, whom she married in November 1948 and served in the ministry with for 52 years, beginning with the 1st United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder, Louisianna; they then founded Christ Temple Church in Huntington, WV; the third church they served was the Calvary U.P.C. at South Bend, Indiana, after which they returned to Christ Temple in Huntington where they served a total of 28 years. She is survived by one son Landy (Joy) Gardner, two daughters, Jonda Valentine, Ronda Landers and her life partner Traci all of Nashville, TN. In addition, eight grandchildren, Dionne, Michael, Sommer Jo, Anna Beth, Okey, Lauren, Roland and JAC; three great grandchildren survive her as well, Brendan, Maddock and Dyson. Mrs. Gardner also leaves several nieces, nephews and a host of many friends. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Christ Temple Church’s Life and Health Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joleane Gardner to the Madison Park Benevolence Fund, C/O First Sentry Bank, P.O. Box 2107 Huntington, WV 25721, Attn.
