Obituary

Betty Ann Huff Johnson
(July 22, 1931 - November 20, 2012)

BETTY A. JOHNSON, 81, passed from this world to the next on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in the warmth of her home. She was the widow of William "Billy" Johnson and the only child of W.J. and Ada B. Huff. Betty is survived by her children, David L. and Linda A. Johnson of Huntington, as well as her granddaughter, Jessica Johnson Holbrook (Ralph), and great-granddaughters, Gracie R. and Olivia D. Holbrook of Charleston, W.Va. Betty leaves behind beloved friends, both deaf and hearing, as well as a host of wonderful people throughout the city of Huntington who took watchful care of her in her "on foot travels" with constant companion "Ruby," her red walker. Betty is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the WVA School for Deaf and Blind Alumni Association, Greater Huntington Association of Deaf, West Virginia Association of Deaf, and National Association of the Deaf. Betty also was active in the American Sign Language program at Mountwest Community Technical College as advocate, supporter and 2nd Mother to both deaf and hearing students and faculty. In lieu of flowers it was her wish that donations or contributions be sent to the William Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund for Deaf Students. c/o of Mountwest Foundation, # 1 Mountwest Way, Huntington, WV 25701 in order that the world will one day understand that DEAF CAN, YES! Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the Reger Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Brother Tony Edmunds. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Huntington.
