Marie Herald Hatfield
(January 10, 1927 - November 23, 2013)



Marie Herald Hatfield, 86, of Huntington, passed away Saturday November 23, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, WV. She was born January 10, 1927 in Crum, WV, a daughter of the late Pearlie Marcum, Sr. and Daisy Duncan Marcum. She attended Grace Gospel Church and loved the Lord. Marie was retired from the cosmetics department at Sears and had also worked at other department stores in the Huntington Area. She was the valedictorian of the 1946 graduating class of Wayne High School. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband John Herald; son Jerry G. Herald; grandson Michael Hatten; four brothers Carl, Pearlie, Jr., Marlin and Kelly Marcum and a sister Louise Smith. Survivors include her husband of nine years Ted Hatfield; daughter and son in law Sue and David Straley of Hurricane, WV; grandchildren Patti (Jeff) Hekking, John (Amye) Straley and Christopher Herald; great grandchildren Tyler Straley and Hanna Hekking; step daughter and spouse Jude and Charley Smith of Ona, WV; step son and spouse Robert and Debbie Hatfield of Ashland, KY; step grandchildren Josh Smith, Jacob (Angela) Smith and Jessica Smith; three sisters Marcella Crockett of Delaware, Thelma Jean (Fred) Sparks of Kenova and Geneva Tyson of Huntington and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 11 am until service time Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home.
