Esther S. (Ferguson) Adkins, 78, of Ceredo, beloved wife of Fred T. Adkins, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Sebring, FL. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Rodney Hale at First Baptist Church of Ceredo at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. She was born in Lavalette, WV on June 15, 1936, daughter of the late Willie and Shirley (Potter) Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her son, Fred B. Adkins, two sisters, and two brothers. Esther worked at American National Rubber and for the Town of Ceredo before retiring. She faithfully served the Lord all of her life and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ceredo for the last three decades. She was always smiling, generous, servant-hearted, and kind to everyone she met. She was a very loving wife, mom, memaw, and friend, who will be greatly missed by everyone. Esther loved to travel, having visited all fifty states, the Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and China. In addition to her husband of almost 60 years, her greatest loves were her children: Freda (Keith) Chadwick of Watauga, TX, Les (Felicia) Adkins of Ashland, and Matthew Adkins of Ceredo; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Jon) Bailey of Wylie, TX, Dustin Adkins of Ashland, Maegan Adkins (fiancé Mark Wilson) of Hurricane, and Emily Adkins of Huntington; and her great-grandsons Thomas and Caleb Bailey of Wylie, TX. She is also survived by three sisters: Jean Martin, Carol Carroll, and Nila Fisher. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Ceredo.
