Obituary



Ernest Edward Midkiff, 85, of Huntington, husband of Frances Batten Midkiff, passed away Wednesday December 31, 2014 at Huntington Health and Rehab. He was born November 20, 1929 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Charles and Kathlyn Ball Midkiff. Ernie and his wife Frances were the owners of Alignment Service Inc. from 1970 to 1994. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps having served during the Korean War, a member of the Marine Corp League and the VFW Post 1064 of Huntington. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers David and Tommy Midkiff. Additional survivors include a son and daughter in law Eddie and Julie Midkiff; three daughters and sons in law Janie and Dave McDaniel, Linda and George Starosta and Alison and Jon Houck; nine grandchildren Kate McDaniel-Candillo, Scott McDaniel, Sara Jane McDaniel-Lilley, Nicholas Starosta, Andrew Starosta, Rebecca Starosta, Caitlin Midkiff-Davidson, Kirstin Midkiff and David Houck; two great grandchildren; two brothers Keith and Bob Midkiff and his special furry friend Bradley. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday at the White Chapel Mausoleum by Rev. Danny Jones. Entombment will follow in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675 or Little Victories Animal Rescue. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  The Veterans Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 16 of Huntington will conduct military graveside rites.
