Charles Cleveland Whisman, Jr., died March 22, 2017 of natural causes peacefully in his sleep. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cleveland Whisman, Sr., sisters Judith Prino, Teresa Yates. Survivors include his mother Mary Ruth Whisman; sister Charlene (Carroll) Leek; uncle Ewell Whisman; daughters Amy Lawson of North Carolina and Ashley Whisman of Ceredo, WV. He had eight grandchildren Jenna, David, Brandi, Dillon, James, Ava, Landon and Lydia. Also survived by nephew/adopted son Steven (Elizabeth) Adkins of Alaska; grandchildren Brandon and Camden; nephews Wesley Leek, Greg Yates, Jr., Wayne Meadows; nieces Jody Ramsey, Hollye Lowe and Sarah Parker all of Huntington; fifteen great nieces and nephews and a host of good friends. Chuck was a graduate of Vinson High School class of 1980 and lived in this area all his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a great carpenter by trade and could McGyver anything. He was a gifted musician and a great cook who fed all of his friends. Children and animals loved him especially his fur baby Gracie. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday April 1 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor James Wells. Friends may call from 10:30 am until service time at the Reger Funeral Home. He was loved and will be missed by many.
