Obituary
CAROLYN KAY ROWAN
(June 17, 1937 - October 30, 2016)
Daughter of Woodrow "Woody" and Mildred Perry, sister,
wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother,
CAROLYN KAY ROWAN went to be
with her Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at 11:07 a.m. Born June 17, 1937,
Kay is survived by her loving husband Glenn "Mick" Rowan, her sister Sally
Sovine, three children, Kent Rowan, Kami Rowan and Kara Rowan Gamble, her
grandchildren Meghan Rowan, Lochlyn and Tucker Gamble, and two
great-grandchildren, Alexis Massie and Jeremiah Wilburn. Kay was a graduate
of Milton High School where she was valedictorian. She attended
Alderson-Broaddus University on a full music scholarship. Most of her life
was spent being an amazing full-time mother to her three children and also
in service to others. Kay was most recently known for her card ministry. She
was an avid church member and woman of faith. She was co-founder of the
Milton Baptist Church library and a soprano in the choir for many years. Kay
enjoyed traveling to national parks, walking, seeing state capitols, baking
and visiting shut-ins, PTA and school activities, seeing concerts, and
managing traffic (including air) from her computer. Kay's organizational
skills were top-notch and those who knew her benefitted greatly from her
talents. Rest assured Kay will be running free and taking care of everyone
in Heaven. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday,
November 3, 2016, at
Milton Baptist Church.
