Obituary

Aaron S. Workman
(September 10, 1926 - April 21, 2011)

Aaron S. Workman, 84, of Barboursville, WV, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Bill Davis. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born September 10, 1926, in Milton, WV, a son of the late Charles Workman and Kathleen Bowen Reeves, but was raised by his step-father, Burt Reeves and his mother, Kathleen. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Philippine Islands during WWII, and a retired crane operator from H. K. Porter. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Francis Workman, and his second wife, Hazel Workman, and his long time companion, Della Colvin, two brothers, Fred and Charles Ellis. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lavonnia "Becky" and Frank Simpson, of Barboursville; two grandchildren, Tracy McCallister and Joseph Aaron Simpson, all of Barboursville; and a very special great-granddaughter, Josie Burns, also of Barboursville; and one brother, Billy Reeves, of Milton, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Couhan for doing all that he could. The family would also like to say thank you to nurses: Brenda, Daphne and Janet for working with us through the most difficult time of our life and all those who said a kind word or whispered a prayer. May God bless you all. We also thank God for blessing us with wonderful friends like Steve and Pat Wilson that are always there to hold you up, and many more friends who love Dad and us. We thank God for a loving, supportive, praying church family. Special blessings to Pastor Bill Davis for being with us at the end and Frances for holding me up. A special thank you and blessing to a wonderful and supportive work family. God bless you all. Aaron will be sorely missed by many, he loved going to the flea market with his buddy Slim. God blessed my Dad with a wonderful life of 84 years. He loved life to the fullest along with family and friends. Aaron loved playing music on his guitar. He will be missed and always in our thoughts. Last but certainly not least, I thank my Heavenly Father for the best and most wonderful earthly Father anyone could ever have. I love him and miss him dearly. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
