Donald "Donnie" S. Black
(March 6, 1948 - April 10, 2015)



Donald “Donnie” S. Black, 67, of Milton, WV, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 unexpectedly at his home. He was born March 6, 1948, in Ona, WV, a son of the late Alonzo and Jean Lipscomb Black. He proudly served in the Army in the Vietnam War. He retired from C & O Railroad with 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post #9796 and attended Sunrise Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Donnie was preceded in death by his young son Brandon Heath Black, his young daughter Tara Anne Black, his first wife Becky Anne Caldwell Black and his brother Keith Black. Donald is survived by his wife Tammy Bates Black; son Donald and Christina Black of Barboursville; daughter Melissa and Jonathan Barnett of Culloden, WV, step-son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Ashley Bates of Barboursville, WV; five grandchildren Corey King and his wife Kelley, Cassie King, Hunter Black, Katie Black and AnnaLynn Black; four step-grandchildren Caeleigh, Isaiah, Isaac, and Caitlin Bates; four sisters Karen and Rick Harvey of Ona, WV, Beverly and Mark Triplett of Branchland, WV, Kimberly and Anthony Barnes of Huntington, WV, Sherry and John Mueller of Spokane, WA; two brothers Timmy and Mary Black of Milton, WV, and Jeff and Kim Black of Milton, WV. Donald also leaves behind a very special Aunt whom was like a mother, Myrtle Black Terry of Milton. He was the son-in-law of Elizabeth and the late Junior Caldwell of Myrtle Beach, SC and Okey and the late Brenda Bates of Barboursville, WV. Donald also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Mark Finley. Burial will be in the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.
