WILLIAM G. CREWS Jr.
(September 29, 1929 - April 24, 2015)


DR. WILLIAM G. CREWS JR., 85, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Midland Meadows Senior Living Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Bluefield, W.Va., the son of the late William G. and Helen Crews. He is preceded in death by one grandson, Spencer Gregory Crews of Barboursville, W.Va. Dr. Crews is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alka Jean Crews; one sister, Carol Davidson of Ashland, Ky.; two sons, Dr. Greg (Gina) Crews of Barboursville and John (Hazel) Crews of Bargersville, Ind.; two daughters, Jenny Colvin of Huntington, W.Va., and Rebecca (David) Lambert of Ironton, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1948, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1956. He served his country in the US Army in 1957-1958. He then established his dental office in Huntington, W.Va., where he practiced for over 50 years. He was a member of the Huntington Dental Society where he served as past President, and a member of the West Virginia Dental Association. He was a member of Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Barboursville Lions Club. Bill enjoyed volunteering at Ebenezer Dental Clinic, fishing, and had a love for restoring and collecting early American antiques. Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial following at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Reverend David Lambert, son-in-law. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Midland Meadows Meadow House for the compassion and care given to him. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to the Ebenezer Dental Clinic.
