Rev. W. William "Bill" Crawford
(January 10, 1938 - July 21, 2015)



Rev. W. William “Bill” Crawford, 77, of Huntington, WV passed away on July 21, 2015 at the Village at Riverview, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Huntington, by Rev. Hubert Harvey and Rev. Timothy Dixon. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. He was born January 10, 1938 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a son of the late Charles Samuel and Nina Virginia Buckner Crawford. He graduated from Barboursville High School in 1956, Marshall University with a B.A. in 1960, and Andover Newton Theological School in 1964. He was ordained February 7, 1965. During seminary he served as Youth Director at Central United Church of Christ, Newtonville, MA. He served churches at Castleton Federated Church, Castleton, VT, St. Marks United Church of Christ in Cumberland, MD, Christ Church U.C.C. in Fort Thomas, KY, Associate Pastor at Zion Evangelical U.C.C. in Indianapolis, IN, St. John’s U.C.C. in Elkhart, IN, and Brooklyn Heights U.C.C. in Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Irwin Crawford; two daughters, Sarah Virginia Crawford of Newport, Vermont and Margaret Allison DeHart and her husband Robert of Pegram, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Clara DeHart and Robert DeHart; brother-in-law, James Irwin; special niece, Norma Jean Ritter; special nephew, Ronald Dean Nicely and his wife, Connie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, and after 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. He will be remembered for his pastor’s heart and his love of Jesus.
