Charlene Payne Leist “Maw Maw” of Princeton, WV, formerly from Huntington, was united in heaven with her husband, Jack E. Leist, who preceded her in death in 2005, Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was born December 22, 1925 in Huntington a daughter of the late Virginia Payne Roberts and Charles Walker Payne. She was also preceded in death by a son, Philip E. Leist; brother, Charles William Payne; sister, Nell Payne Follrod; and son-in-law, Tom Hughes. She is survived by two daughters, Jennie Hughes Harbour and Allan of Princeton, WV with whom she made her home; Carla Templeton and Paul of Barboursville, WV; grandchildren, Debbie Hughes Sigmon & Mark, Princeton, WV; John Hughes & Teresa of Princeton, WV; Wesley Templeton of Milton, WV; Martha Hughes Harrell and Steve of Catharpin, VA; Sarah Templeton Fenney and Brandon of Proctorville, OH; Jennifer Leist of Huntington, WV; great grandchildren, Kathryn Harrell, Kristi Sigmon, Liam Templeton, Lucas Templeton and Aubry Fenney; a host of nieces and nephews. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church, Princeton, WV. She was an avid Princeton Rays baseball fan and a member of Kyova Genealogy Society. Mom never met a stranger and was always helping others. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Kyle Neal. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the funeral home. Donations may be made to CAMC Hospitality House, CAMC Foundation, 3414 Staunton Ave. SE, Charleston, WV 25304 or Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702. We would like to thank the doctors and staff at CAMC, especially Dr. James Campbell, and the staff at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
