Obituary

Audrey Arlene Hughes
(January 11, 1926 - March 18, 2015)



AUDREY ARLENE HUGHES, 89, was born January 11, 1926 in Akron, OH. On March 18, 2015, the finger of God touched her and she slept. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Effie Mae Stevers; her husband of 58 years, Rev. Donald L. Hughes; her daughter, Dawna Sue Hughes; her brother, Edgar Stevers of Fairfax, VA; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; four nieces; three nephews; and a great grandson. Survivors include: her sister, Clyda Jean Denning, of Huntington; a sister-in-law, Dolores Stevers of Bristow, VA; a son, Dr. Clyde M. Hughes (Linda) of London, OH; eight grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Crystal (Tom) Traini of Grove City, OH; Dustin (Mindy) Hughes of South Charleston, OH; Tina (Warren) Owens of Mt. Sterling, OH; Wes and Tim Hughes of London, OH; Penny (Scott) Miller of LaRue, OH; Heidi (Matt) Tlachac of Springfield, OH; and Robin (William) Stump of West Des Moines, IA; sixteen great grandchildren; seven nieces and 13 nephews. Arlene was a homemaker and Pastor’s Wife for most of 42 years, serving churches in Ceredo, Huntington, and Kenova, WV and Ironton, Zoar, Marion, and Burlington, OH. She often served the churches as teacher, pianist and often played violin. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Charles Langdon, Ray Sexton, and Clyde Hughes officiating. Entombment will be in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, March 30, 2015, at Chapman’s Mortuary.
