ROBERT RICHARD MILLER
(January 31, 1926 - March 9, 2015)

Robert Richard Miller, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, at Chateau Grove in Barboursville. Born in Steubenville, OH, on January 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles and Julia Murich Miller. The mother of his children, Betsy K. Miller, preceded him in death. Bob attended Steubenville High School and was a member of the Steubenville Big Red Football Team where he was named to the 1943 All-Ohio First Team. After high school, he served his country honorably in the United States Army as he enlisted for two tours of duty as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division in the Battle of the Bulge and the Pacific Theater during the Second World War. He attended the College of Steubenville and went on to graduate from Marshall University with a degree in accounting. A moral, honest man, Bob was passionate about politics as well as being an avid sports fan and a golden gloves boxer in the army. He was an accountant with the former INCO Alloys and a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Miller is survived by his two daughters, Julianne McGinnis McGee (Tom McGee) of Charleston, WV, and Katherine Furey (Dr. Anthony Furey) of Wilmington, DE; sister, Mary Hoover, of Steubenville, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Dr. Laura McGinnis Foor, Brannock Furey, Conor Furey, and Corinne Furey. Memorial graveside service with military honors provided by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Ridgelawn Abbey of Devotion, Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Entombment was in Abbey of Devotion. The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau Grove for all their skilled and compassionate care for Bob. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at 1601 Second Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387.
