Robert Vass Funk, 99, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Danville, VA, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Caring Hands and Loving Hearts Assisted Living in Huntington. He was born May 3, 1918 in Galax, VA a son of the late John Brown Funk and Ada Elizabeth Phillips Funk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Vaden Funk. He was a Christian and attended Lighthouse Bible Church in Danville, VA. He was a retired circulation manager for the Danville (VA) Register and Bee and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include: his nephew and family, Larry (Norma) Vaden of Huntington, Larry's children, David, Michael, Cathy and Carolyn, and Larry's Grandchildren, Michael, Bryan, Alyssa, Austin, Kevin, Phoenix, and Raven; and special friends, Karen Hudgins and Evelyn Wooten. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, July 21, 2017, at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA, with Rev. W. L. Wade officiating. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
