Dortha Mae VanMatre Hensley, 92, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 05, 2017, in Madison Park, Huntington. She was born December 1, 1924 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late John A. VanMatre, Sr. and Ruth Weekley VanMatre. Her husband, James J. Hensley; two sisters, Opal Miller and Bertha Bias; and a brother, John A. VanMatre, Jr., also preceded her in death. She was an insurance agent for the former Hensley Insurance Agency. Dortha was a member of Twentieth Street Baptist since 1943 and was a charter member of New Baptist Church. Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, James and Katherine Hensley of Huntington; two grandsons and their spouses, J.J. and Kasia Hensley of Cranberry, PA and Brian and Julieanna Hensley of Huntington; and a great granddaughter, Cassie Hensley. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Ridgelawn Abbey of Devotion. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to New Baptist Church or the Salvation Army. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
