Obituary

DELMER RAY ADKINS, 51, of Hurricane went to Heaven to be with family after a short, hard illness. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Donald Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. He was born May 22, 1954, in Hamlin, W.Va., a son of the late Elbert and Olga Adkins. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Cornis and Paris B. Adkins; and three sisters, Leona Cremeans, Blanche Morris and Edith Bennett. Delmer was employed at Massey Coal. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie J. Adkins; daughter, Brandi Adkins; son, John Adkins; stepson, Jamie Jeffers; sisters Marie Gillespie, Opal Strogilos, Vera (Jack) Fox, Louise (Earl) Adkins and Betty (James) Adkins; brothers Robert Adkins, Ollin (Bonnie) Adkins and Ersie (Wilma Jean) Adkins; special friend Mike Adkins and a host of special nieces and nephews. Delmer will be truly missed, but fondly remembered. The family would like to thank St. Mary's ICU, Dr. Klinestiver and Dr. Boone. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at City National Bank, Milton, to the college fund for his son, John.
