Obituary

Jonathan Edward Adkins, 55, of Milton passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Jim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born May 1, 1956 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late James Edward and Loreda Loftis Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Linda Clagg Adkins; one son, Jonathan C. Adkins; four brothers, David Painter, J. Mike (Cindy) Adkins, D. Patrick Adkins and Gary Adkins; one sister, Rebecca L. Adkins Stowers; six nephews, Dusty Stowers, Mike and Chuck Adkins, Greg Adkins and Chris Painter; one aunt, Shirley Wheeler; seven cousins, Loreda Joan, Robert, Kyle, Greg, Ben, Gary and Judy Loftus; and his best friend, Rodney McCallister of Culloden, WV. Jon served in the United States Army for over 25 years until he retired in 2004 with the rank of E& Sergeant First Class. The West Virginia Mountaineers will suffer a huge loss of their biggest fan. Jon loved his WV “eers” and never missed a game. His heart was as big as his smile and he cared for others more than he cared for himself. In Jon’s eyes, his son, Jonathan Caleb Adkins was his greatest accomplishment. He was an amazing father, husband, friend and soldier. He will be forever remembered and have a permanent place in our hearts. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
