Melvin Edmonds, 88, of Glenwood, WV, husband of Elogene “Jean” Barker Edmonds for 63 years, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Gilbert Junior Smith and Pastor George Surgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Pete Meadows Cemetery, Glenwood. He was born May 9, 1923 in Mason Co., WV, a son of the late Jeremiah and Mattie Holley Edmonds. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters and a special brother-in-law, Ralph Barker. Mr. Edmonds attended Palestine Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and was retired from ACF after 26 years. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a special daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jimmy Jenkins; a special son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Teresa Steele Edmonds; one grandson, Jason (Ashley) Jenkins; two great grandchildren, Mason and Emma Jenkins; two sisters, Marie Barker and Martha Stover; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Armia Barker; and two sisters-in-law, Edna and Elizabeth Edmonds. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Heck Funeral Home.
