HARVEY P. BARTON, JR.
(October 4, 1945 - September 1, 2014)



Harvey Paul Barton, Jr. 68 of Huntington, W.Va. passed away, Monday, September 1, 2014 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. He was born October 4, 1945 in Charleston, W.Va. the son of the late Harvey Paul Barton Sr. and Julian Carolyn Carney Barton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceeded in death by one nephew, Ben Eberbaugh. Harvey was an Elder at Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was also an Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was a 1963 graduate of Nitro High School, a 1969 graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. degree from the School of Pharmacy. He was also a former Clinical Instructor for the West Virginia School of Pharmacy and a Phamacist at St. Mary's Hospital for fifteen years. Harvey was a member of the American Pharmacists Association and the West Virginia Phamacists Association. He was also the CEO of Compre Care in Huntington. He served on the board of directors of United Way. He was a member of the Guyan Golf and Country Club, avid supporter of West Virginia University and a boating enthusiast. Harvey is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jennifer Barton of Huntington, W.Va.; one sister, Nancy Eberbaugh (Bob) of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Jeff Barton of Nitro, W.Va.; three daughters, Missy Smith (Clay) of Lynchburg, Va., Autumn Conley (Jon) of Ona, W.Va. and Brooke Merlino (Erik) of Huntington, W.Va; one son, Paul Barton of Apple Grove, W.Va; six grandchildren, Emma Kathryn and Isaiah Smith both of Lynchburg, Va., Spencer, Payton and Reagan Conley all of Ona, W.Va., and Quinn Merlino of Huntington, W.Va; one niece, Jenny Berg (Erik) of Atlanta, Ga. We would like to thank all of the staff at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House who are truly angels placed here on this earth. We would also like to thank Dr. Tirona, her nurse, Terry Yancey and all of the Infusion Center staff as well as Dr. Hussein and Dr. Freeman and their assistants in the Radiation and Oncology Dept. of the Edwards Cancer Center. Our community is truly blessed to have a facility of this caliber to serve our needs. Thank you to all of our friends and church family who are so dear to us. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Clay Smith and Dr. Lowell Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. The Barton family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. near Barboursville, W.Va.
