James Richard Damron

James Richard Damron, 90, of Huntington, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012, in Woodlands Healthcare. He was born January 4, 1922 in Wayne County, W.Va. a son of the late Boyd and Ethel Little Damron. In addition to his parents he was also preceded by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Ann Merry Damron; a granddaughter Kristen Leigh Damron; one sister and two brothers. Dick was retired partner of A. Gordon Merry Insurance Agency. A WWII Navy Veteran, graduate of Marshall University where he was a member of the football team. Member of Enslow Park Presbyterian Church and an avid golfer who enjoyed his golf trips with his friends. He is survived by two sons, J. Richard Damron Jr. (Pattie) of Boca Raton, Fla. and Mark T. Damron (Frida) of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Leslie Damron Klion and Joshua J. Damron; a brother, Bill Damron of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Betty Damron of Pawleys Island, S.C. and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance by Rev. Chris Perkins. Entombment will follow. Friends may call 1:30 p.m. until service time at the Abbey. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Enslow Park Presbyterian Church.
