Obituary



Shirley Faye Mays 75, of Huntington, WV passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Gordon Simpson. Burial will follow in Burlington Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, Ohio. Shirley was born February 23, 1940 in Martin County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George W. and Laura Francis Puckett Laney. She was a retired employee of the Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital, in the dietary department. She was also preceded in death by her husband Billy R. Mays, one son Larry Roberts, six brothers: Jim, George, Clinton, Dave, Raymond, and Orie Laney; three sisters: Francis Jarrells, Violet Preston and Charlene Smith. Survivors include two sons and their spouses: Wesley (Robin) Roberts, Danny (Beverly) Roberts, four daughters: Kay Ullom and her companion, Shawn Masters, Penny (Rick) Hooser, Tootie (Scot) Fry and Rhonda (Les) Ferguson, in addition, 30 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, one brother, Alan Laney, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to say thank you to Jessica Bundy, who gave such special care to her and to acknowledge Shawn Masters who was like a son to her and came in to watch movies with her. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday at the Reger Funeral Home.
